Once again ocd that happens every few months is back. Recently i’ve been stuck in a compulsion where i scratch the side of my cats back which is close to her butt. it’s right on the side by it. My mind keeps telling me i’m abusing her. Yes it’s close to her butt but i’m not touching it at all. She also loves when i pet her there! she goes crazy!!! and advice on how to deal with this?
I've a cat and she loves it so much when I do it, this spot is so relaxing and calming for them, so you're fine and you will never do such a thing Let the thought be, don't try to argue or explain yourself, you're not this thought let it pass your mind peacefully without intervention your cat is so lucky to have you as her human friend! ❤️
I am so happy I read your entry. I've struggled with this form for so many years off and on. Everytime I have to give my little doggo a bath. She is the absolute light of my life and we are the best of friends. I know Its absolutely absurd but whenever I have to wash her butt area I have to try hard to close my mind off and not think about it because of past worries I've made over nothing. My brain has told me I've spent "too much time" washing her fur near there before even. I feel your pain. But trust me there's no way you would ever do anything to your kitty and I never did anything to my pup. We are good people.
Fearing that you may harm or be sexually attracted to animals can be a common theme that OCD takes on. I think that you should keep petting your cat there- in fact do it even more. Then sit with the idea that, yup maybe I did touch my cat's butt, maybe I liked it, who knows, I don't need to know and I do not need to figure it out. I will allow myself to sit in the uncertainty and not try and solve this perceived problem. Eventually the anxiousness and discomfort will pass and you do not need to do any compulsions to make it go away.
The terrifying thing is to start thinking that the obsession is real when you accept it this way, how can we deal with these feelings it's create a lot more of distress and anxiety
whenever i have harm ocd thoughts abt hurting my cat, normally i get really scared and i used to avoid being close to him or near him when those thoughts were there, but recently as ive been trying to work through them i find that im not scared. not only that though, whenever i have my hands near any places where my mind is telling me i could take advantage of, seeing that my cat is still happy and not afraid, reassures me that i havent ever acted in any way similar to what i think.. i find it comforting but i feel like its disgusting and fucked up of me to continue interacting with my cat and to be in any position where i could hurt him if those thoughts are there it feels like i enjoy the thoughts.. but i definitely dont! i just enjoy being able to still love him 😞 is this weird? i feel even worse for being concerned abt it
I've been doing so much better these past 2 weeks, I actually thought I was beginning o recover... However a few minutes ago I had a horrific thought about one of my cats, she was lying next o me on the bed with her belly up and I was stroking her, I was actually comfortable being by her and was petting her and kissing her and she looked so cute when suddenly my eyes drifted to the lower part of her belly and these horrific thought popped up saying: "I wamt to r*p3 my cat " I also got a horrible intrusive image, and I was absolutely disgusted but felt little to no anxiety to the thought which is really scary. I had to get away from her out of fear of hurting her and now I feel like i'm spiraling and falling back down into the deep dark hole I was at. I was feeling good today (i haven't felt like this in almost a year) and now I can be with my cats normally, comparing when my harm OCD was at it's peak I couln't even be near them. So why is this happening again, and why did I look at my cat's pr*vate parts and felt I did it purpose w bad intentions????!! I don't want to hurt my kitty 😭
was hugging my cat and she got annoyed and meowed and i got sad and thought how could anyone hurt any animals then i start getting thoughts like u want to hurt one u want to really hurt one even ur own cats and it made me scared but i have little anxiety it made me sad tho. when i was little i had kicked my dog and that came up in my memories and now im scared i will hurt my pets. when i was younger i was weird and i have memories spaced out of me doing weird/bad stuff that i would never do now but it makes my ocd worse. I hate this :(
