Anyone taking Lexapro? How was it starting out?
Anyone taking Lexapro? How was it starting out?
I have taken it my whole life on and off. BEWARE the first week you take it, it makes anxiety worse. However, after one week I am feeling so, so much better. I can honestly say I wouldn’t be functional right now without this drug. 10/10 recommend
@HealthAnxietyOCD Second this!
@HealthAnxietyOCD Thank you! I’m so fearful of my anxiety worsening at all. I’m already feeling like I’m breaking🥺
@AcceptUncertainty I get that. For me, it couldn’t get much worse anyway. I called out of work, did therapy, and tried to be kind to myself. Some people take Xanax or klonopin or Ativan to get through that week but I am 5 and a half years sober so had to white knuckle it. I got through! So will you!!
@HealthAnxietyOCD Thank you!
I take it. It works pretty well for me. Waves of nausea the first two weeks but then that went away!
@Itsheathersocd Thank you! I guess I have to build the courage to take on added symptoms temporarily😩
@AcceptUncertainty I promise for me it was nothing I couldn’t handle and I’m a wimp lol. Everyone is diff though but I highly doubt you’ll have a terrible experience on it. It’s known to be a safe and consistent med. Just always contact a doctor if something is concerning you. Good luck on your journey 💖💖💖
i take it and at first i felt like it did nothing because it has to build in your system but then the anxiety would come in waves
@ocdhaver22 Is it working now? Did it take away all of the anxiety?
@AcceptUncertainty it took some away but i’m also on buspar to make it stronger and then i have medical marijuana for when the anxiety kicks up again throughout the fay
Hey friends, I hope you all are well. I just wanted to check in and ask people's experiences about being on medication. I have had OCD pretty much my whole life, just got recently diagnosed 4 months ago and my therapist recommended that I get on meds for it so I have a psychiatrist appointment set up. I'm a little apprehensive about getting on them, but I've realized that I do have some sort of chemical imbalance in my brain that plays a part in my OCD and anxiety. I would love to hear anyones experiences or words of encouragement. Thank you, I hope you all are well.
So you got to ask me anything… Now I’d like to ask you something! I’ve heard from Members that they were so scared coming to their first ERP session. They were terrified that I would think they were crazy, that I would tell them their worst fears were true. That I would confirm they are some form of a terrible person or have them hauled off to prison for their thoughts. I’ve also had Members share how they’re very scared to begin ERP treatment because they’ve researched enough to know it means facing the fear, without the compulsions that have kept them feeling safe (but not really safe) this entire time. They struggled to see how they could be capable of doing this, while simultaneously acknowledging that they did not want to live like this anymore. If you have had your first session, what were your thoughts before? Did you have any hesitations or fears going into it? How did it turn out? If you haven’t yet begun to work with an ERP specialist, what is holding you back?
I just got diagnosed with ocd and she suggested I think about taking lexapro for it. Has anybody tried that and does it help at all?
