OCD & Mornings
Does anyone else deal with really bad OCD as soon as they wake up? Any tips for dealing with this?

Most people do. Our Cortisol levels are higher in the AM.
Yes! It’s terrible in the mornings for me as well. My reaction is to want to stay in bed or snuggle my spouse or daughter, and try to fight the feelings. But this isn’t working for me at all. The mornings that I’ve felt the best are the ones that I get up, get moving, go for a run, force myself to read a book, etc. Thanks for sharing this, because I thought it was just me!
Get out of bed immediately and start doing something, no matter what time it is. Staying in bed will just set you up for hours of ruminating.
Yes. Meditate in the morning!
yep with that feeling of dread in your stomach 5 seconds after gaining awareness
@taurising Blah for real. I wonder what it’s like to wake up feeling excited about life 😂
@Jennica B. - haha we'll know one day!
@taurising The worst!
Yep! Everyday. I literally when I wake up say bring it on ocd !!! Let’s see what kind of tricks you’ve got for me today! Instead of being so negative
@Hailey33 Haha I like that!
My OCD is always raging in the mornings! Up til now I haven't found great tips to help me with it 😅
My body also wakes up at 5 am every day and immediately the thoughts begin so I immediately start trying to refocus.
Yes I do but then after I get up get dressed and have my coffee I feel better
I’m having a big OCD relapse and would like to hear anyone’s tips on how to be present and healthily deal with these intrusive thoughts and the “need” to preform compulsions. Thank you!!
I always wake up full of dread and fear. My anxiety is through the roof two seconds after I open my eyes. Someone on this app gave me a similar insight once I believe. But I think anxiety is just the urge to ruminate. About what? It probably doesn’t matter, as long as I can torture myself, as OCD loves. Does anyone else relate to this or agree maybe?
Does anyone have any tips on how to handle contamination OCD?
