Well, for years it was put down to GAD. Anyways, I was having a bad spell and bought a anixety self-help book. Got to Chapter 2 "OCD", thinking, well, I don't have that. Anyways, new book, might as well read it all. Within a paragraph, I knew that's exactly what I'd been suffering with for over 20 years. I (like many others) assumed OCD was a "cleaning" thing. So I never ever expected it. But it all makes sense now!

I knew I had OCD at a young age because it runs in my family. My grandfather on my dad's side unfortunately spent the last few years of his life in isolation, which is a major OCD fear that I have, going back into isolation because I essentially was for the last 3 years other than working. I joined this app after my arrest because I got into a fight with my brother and he called the police and even though he didn't want to charge me I still got arrested and charged by my state. I was recommended this app by probation and decided to give the fourm a try in order to share my recovery and possibly help others who are still suffering alone. I still suffer but am no longer alone

I was thinking a lot about which disorder connected with anxiety would explain my intrusive thoughts I talked to my dad about it and he told me he have ocd,he just never told anyone about it I started to read about it a lot and after a month got confirmed by a therapist and psychiatrist

I have always been the type that everything had to be perfect and I was always obsessed with what people thought of me. Recently, I have had 2 main types come up which include harm and health. I just recently got the official diagnosis. I joined this app to find others who can relate because I am in a very terrible head space with my new theme. Nobody in my family has ocd so it’s very hard for me to explain.

My name is Lily. I’m from a small town in Colorado. I have had OCD since I was 6 but I was finally diagnosed at 9. I am constantly being bullied for being different and I came here to find others dealing with the sales things as me. I have never met another soul with OCD and no one in my area really knows what it is either. My most prominent OCD is sibling contamination OCD. I feel like my brother is dirty so I can’t touch him or anything in my own home. I can’t even touch the doors to leave without someone opening it for me or using gloves and washing my hands afterwards. I struggle everyday with anxiety which transferred over to harm and suicidal OCD. Whenever my anxiety gets to great I have to cut myself or sit on the roof and cry with my thoughts telling me to jump because I hurt my family emotionally. My parents call me a burden and my dad used to physically beat me. I’m trying to heal but all I can see in the mirror is a messed up 15 year old girl who is a burden to her family. Sometimes I wish I could just bring myself to the end and put my family out of their pain. I think I need someone with OCD to talk to.
hey! i was thinking it would be cool if there would be a place where we could find people and become friends with other people dealing with ocd. it could be a safe place for us to say our experience so far, or to just talk about anything, even if it’s not ocd related. lmk what you think about this idea and comment what you think we could/should make it on!
Hey guys, I hope you’re well! My names Matt, and OCD has struck me again 😂 When I was 10 years old I had to attend therapy as I was having excessive intrusive thoughts. P.s. I didn’t even know this was possible at the age of 10! I then completely forgot about it, until 2.5 years ago when I started experiencing ROCD. I really couldn’t understand why I was feeling/thinking this way however, I soon after remembered my struggles as a child and then realised my OCD had returned. Also, my mum has serious OCD so I guess that could be why too. I had a a really hard battle with my emotions and mood due to this however, the last 1.5 years had been really good and I managed it well. I got married and had the best day of my life. 3 months ago, a thought about having an affair in my head appeared, and BOOM, it’s back again. I’m struggling a lot right now however, I’ve accepted that this could be a re occurring theme throughout my life, and it’s time to learn to deal with it again. I’m back on medication and have started ERP therapy, so hopefully it’s on the up from here. I’m not here to list off my triggers and thoughts as this would be me seeking reassurance however, I’m here to show that recovery is certainly possible!
