I'm just gonna say this, you're gonna be okay, I'm dealing with false memories myself and it's a real struggle, more than that, but you're okay

Dealing with false memory OCD can be really tough, especially when it brings up those “what if” scenarios that feel so heavy. It’s important to remember that having a thought or fear doesn’t define who you are or your morals. The fact that you’re feeling this way shows that you care deeply about your values, which is a good thing. One way to handle the uncertainty is to practice self-compassion. Remind yourself that these memories are not reliable, and its okay to not have all the answers. You could try grounding techniques, like focusing on the present moment, to help manage those spiraling thoughts. Remember, you’re not alone in this, and it’s okay to seek support. You’re doing your best, and that’s what matters!!❤️❤️❤️

I have also struggled with the what if's! Some of the what if's that I struggled with were not even physically possible but I would still ruminate about them for hours! I've come to realize that if your fear starts with what if, ignore it!!! It's BS! Just ocd trying to get you to ruminate!

Try to notice how often you say " what if" and " i feel". There is a flawed way of thinking called " emotional reasoning" that OCD sufferers fall prey to all too often. Using how you feel to determine if something is good, bad, right, wrong, logical or not is not reliable. i could feel like I'm a cat to the core of my being, it will never be true ( unfortunately lol) when you try to do the " maybe, maybe not" it needs to be more than just trying a magic sentence to make it all go away. There is no such thing as certainty, not with anything in life. but there IS probability, and that is where we must live. You can't be certain you didn't do anything bad, but you can live your life with the weight of probability. I would say " maybe i did this icky thing, but i probably didn't and the odds of 1 million to 1 are just too insignificant to waste my time with." this wont make the icky feeling go away but it will start to teach your brain that these dumb " what ifs" are not important. it takes time to train your brain so you have to keep doing it, even thru the icky feelings. it sucks i know but it does work if you keep at it. I deal with false memory about cheating on my husband. it SUCKS cuz i will never have certainty ( becuase i cant travel in time to have absolute truth) BUT i know the probability is like 1 million to 1 that i did, and i have a better chance of winning the lottery with those odds lol ( and that's not going to happen either) so i just let that " what if" slide to the back of my brain and MOST IMPORTANT i shift my perspective to the present. Today, right now, that's all that's important. Living in the past robs joy from today and living in the future borrows sorrow from tomorrow.

@TexasOCD41 Thank you so much Texas ocd. I appreciate your comment. I am currently in class and will respond to all these comments with more detail when i am done. I will apply your advice to all of this. Maybe maybe not, but the probability is low. And I’m not gonna try to figure that out right now bc no matter what I’m not gonna be satisfied lol.
