Podophobia
My 6 year old son has a real fear of ‘bare feet’, he’ll wear socks all the time also during the night. If he see’s others without socks on he’ll freak out and has to clean everything those feet have touched. After changing socks I have to wash my hands, anyone who has bare feet makes him anxious and acting erratic. He gets hypervigilant and watches every step that person takes making sure they don’t touch things with their feet and that they wash their hands if they touched a foot. I want to figure out how to help him overcome his podophobia. It’s stressful on us dealing with this and I’m not sure where this can lead to, how it will affect his future. What therapy if any should we consider? Have others dealt with this? Thanks..
