Medication
What medicines do you all take that help with your OCD?
What medicines do you all take that help with your OCD?
fluvoxamine!
Prozac has been amazing
@Madison2459 Did you have side effects with Prozac? What mg?
@Fancie I did for about 2 months, I had dry mouth and my armpits literally poured the sweat for no reason lol. But all that has gone away! I’m only on 10mg
@Madison2459 I was on 10mg for three weeks and now I’m currently on 20mg for the past two weeks. I’ve had a hard time with side effects. I hope they pass and I feel better soon. This has been so rough.
@Fancie They definitely will pass! You can always go back down to the 10mg though if you feel it isn’t working. It can take up to a month for it to completely work with your system, maybe you didn’t give the 10mg enough time to kick in!
@Madison2459 My doctor increased the dose because my panic attacks were getting worse.
@Fancie Mine did too the first couple weeks, by the 4th week I was almost at my worst with anxiety and not wanting to be here (I have depression too which worsens with my OCD) but with help from my husband I kept on it then one day I just felt better!! But do what’s best for you!! I have heard that the higher the dose, the harder for the body but that’s kind of with any type of medication.
@Madison2459 I also had ridiculous panic attacks where I felt like I was going to die. I’m sorry you’re going through panic attacks too, if you ever need to talk to someone who’s went through what you’re going through I’m here!
@Madison2459 So around week 4 you felt better?
@Fancie Yes, the first week I felt good, then weeks 2-4 my anxiety was heightened, and then the week after that I started to want to do things I was afraid of, and every day I seemed to get a little bit better (nocd therapy helped a lot too though!) I’ve been on it for about 8 months now and it actually saved my life. I don’t even want to think of coming off of it because it helped so much. I do still have some bad days, but I think those are with the hormone changes of having my period. But I’ll take a couple bad days over every day being bad!
@Madison2459 I’m so glad that you’re doing so well! Did you have any side effects like weakness/fatigue, feeling jittery, etc?
@Fancie Thank you ❤️ and for the first month or 2 I sweated a lot and had dry mouth when I ate but that’s it!
@Madison2459 You got lucky! I’ve had terrible fatigue and don’t feel like doing anything. I hate it.
@Fancie Aw I’m sorry! I was like that in general just because my depression was much worse, and I wasn’t eating or drinking water. But when I started eating healthier and actually doing stuff around the house again I got so much energy back. I notice even still now if I’m feeling lazy and sleep in a lot, I feel like crap later. But if I push myself to stay up when my husband leaves for work, I have so much more energy! I even try to do small little workouts throughout the day too, it’s crazy how much that can actually boost your energy. Even just jogging in place for 5 minutes
@Madison2459 I’m struggling with OCD, panic attacks and depression. I’m a mess. 😢
@Fancie You’re not a mess you’re just going trough some things. My panic attacks are mostly gone now, I still have one occasionally. But I am still struggling with depression and ocd too. The ocd has gotten WAY better than it was, but still having some problems with it feeds my depression and makes it hard for me to fill fully happy. But I know working on them makes me feel better so I don’t want to stop. Do you do anything at the moment to try to help your mind stay busy? Do you exercise at all during the day? :)
@Madison2459 I try but the fatigue and weakness kicks in. I just feel like I need to sit down. It’s so depressing.
@Fancie You should drink a big glass of cold water as soon as you get up! Also I’ve been drinking this green drink from the brand amazing grass (greens blend) superfood, I got it from target in the wellness section. It actually gives you SO much energy!! I got it for the probiotics because I have tummy problems, but it helps with so many other things too. You could try some type of healthy drink mix like that!
@Fancie Also, sounds not fun, but just pushing yourself to ignore the fatigue will help you so much. Make a schedule for yourself everyday, and stick to it no matter what! You’ll teach your body to have a schedule again, and you’ll feel much better when you’re more active. Exercise and moving of any kind trigger all types of happy hormones and energy from your brain! So try to get yourself moving even if you don’t feel like you can! Do something easy like jumping jacks, or running in place, or even stretching starting out, and I think you’ll notice an immediate difference!!
@Madison2459 Thanks for the advice and encouraging words. I’m just having a hard time. Talking to someone who understands helps a lot. 😊
@Fancie No problem!! I understand, you can deff do it though :) and it really does help, I wish I actually knew more people who were going through things like me, or people who at least talked about it!
@Madison2459 May we please keep in touch? If that’s okay with you.
@Fancie Absolutely!!
@Fancie How have you been the past couple of days? :)
@Madison2459 Hi! I haven’t been feeling too well. Very depressed and just feeling so tired.
@Fancie I’m sorry, have you tried anything new in your routine?
@Madison2459 I’ve tried doing things around the house but I just can’t seem to do it. My leg muscles get this weird feeling like they’re buzzing and it triggers my anxiety. I’m thinking it’s from the Prozac.
@Fancie Maybe when they do that do some leg stretches until they feel better, it also might be in your head since anxiety can make you think things, it can also make you feel things too! Or even smell things, it messes with your senses!
@Madison2459 It freaks me out. I automatically think I’m going to have a seizure or something. That’s my OCD kicking in. I’m just so depressed. 😔
@Madison2459 Thank you for checking in! I’ve been so lonely.
@Fancie Aw I’m not a doctor but that is probably most definitely not the case!! Your body can take much more than you think, especially when you’re feeling anxious!
@Fancie And no problem!! Would have sooner but I was sick the past couple of days
@Madison2459 I’m sorry you’ve been sick. I hope you’re feeling better!
@Fancie Thanks! Sorry for the late reply. How have you been? :)
Zoloft (Sertraline)
