I did good with no giving into a ritual but I was of course left with the if u don't do it then this bad thing will happen. Usually after a day I'm able to move on but I find myself ruminating about this fear since Sunday evening and although I don't plan to give in to the compulsion to do the ritual, I feel like I'm going to be thinking about this for quite a while and that in itself scares me.
May I ask what ritual is?
Its kind of complicated to explain but it's stupid, looking at something on my phone but my ocd is like if u don't you'll.be miserable so now I find myself constantly checking how I feel and to be honest I haven't been great the last week because of pms so I'm trying to remind myself that that's y I feel crappy and that's y my ocd is worse but it's hard to just believe myself and not listen to the disorder

The disorder feels convincing. It takes time to heal. What coping skills does u use
I just try to use distraction and remind myself that this will pass. But if u have any tips on ruminating that would be great
As a Catholic I talk to God or the saints in the same way I talk to people about what’s bothering me. It remember that they love me(I think about past mistakes a lot) and then I try to do something to keep me busy. I sometimes find a priest or call the suicide hotline. Sometimes I try to push it out of my mind and wait til my therapist can listen. I try to forgive myself and remind myself I’m not that person anymore, and I never meant anything bad to began with.
Feel guilty for not giving into compulsions like rumination and confessing? I feel guilt for having an intrusive thought, trying to shrug it off or just giving it a few seconds of thought and moving along. This sounds like improvement but I still struggle with the anxiety and the guilt. The shame. I’ll be okay and then I’ll remember I have OCD and my stomach will drop and I just want to curl up and cry.
I'm having the hardest time right now with my own ruminating negative thoughts that may or may not possibly come true. I fear the worst and replay what that looks like in my head over and over. The best I can do is my best and wait for the horror to end. I want to cry, but can't. I'm scared and alone in my head. My anxiety is extreme. What should I do in the meantime while I'm going through this? How can I minimize or stop the way I'm feeling? Please, I need help.
Advice needed please: Has anybody ever been in a situation where something traumatic or heartbreaking was happening in their life and struggled with rumination? I know there is like a normal amount that you should process something and cry it out but I don’t know that it is conducive to anything to do that on and off for hours? Wouldn’t it at a certain point be considered unhelpful rumination? And if so how does one stop? Because I’m going through something so hurtful and confusing that I don’t know how to stop thinking about it and the usual distractions don’t work for very long. And idk how important this is but it just happened today so it’s very fresh which makes it even harder to not think about and “figure out” why x, y, z happened. Goodness, I’m sorry if I’m weird or a baby
