I was thinking about random stuff and then started thinking about what it would be like to raise a baby. After thinking that I had a random wave of arousal? I know it wasn’t from thinking of babies but I’m still worried it was. How do you know if it was or not? I wasn’t even thinking of babies specifically just what it would be like having one. It was random arousal and scared me.
For the purposes of exposure and response, not getting an answer to your question will be the overall benefit that will decrease your OCD symptoms. Do not seek reassurance—this fuels OCD. Practice focusing on that thought or look at pictures of babies until your anxiety decreases and continue to do that every day until your overall symptoms decrease and they’ll eventually subside (if they come back then continue practicing the exposure) While doing these do not check for arousal or a groinal response (that would be a compulsion) let the anxiety and responses come as they are and pass. This practice will help you and your brain realize that wild thoughts and bodily responses happen and are a part of being human— this realization will detach those thoughts from anxiety.
Hey 👋🏻 there! This is common with POCD, also arousal can happen unwillingly, you have to remember the human body experiences changes of mood and energy throughout the day, even during sleep! It’s not true arousal because that would be intentional, or induced. And given that the thought scared you and gave you no pleasure. It’s hard to explain but the body is organic and it does what it does naturally sometimes.
POCD TW I was scrolling through Instagram and saw a picture of a little girl and suddenly I had the urge to kiss or touch her or something it scared me a lot and I started scrolling faster to get away from it BUT I felt a groinal response and it felt SO real like butterflies and twitching and itching and everything maybe even vaginal lubrication and I had the urge to masterbate and scrolled back to make sure I don’t desire this and I felt calmer when I didn’t feel anything looking at her again but I still feel anxious and kinda aroused during the day thinking back to the situation I don’t know what to do it feels so real the urges and everything ?
Ok I have a question for y’all. After you have a good moment with a guy, like when you think about him and want to be with him and it feels good, does anyone get the intrusive thought “what if I’m romantically attracted to men but sexually attracted to women?” Because that just came up for me and it is not fun and very worrying. Because I have been aroused by lesbian porn (I did this before my HOCD intrusive thoughts started) and now I’m worried because I was aroused by that I can only be sexually attracted to women ?
Is this even ocd anymore it feels so real and like I’m in denial.. I’m not seeking reassurance but I just don’t know what to do anymore. I got an intrusive sexual image of me getting a baby’s hand and making it finger me and got the feeling as though I may want to do it.. I feel really guilty and ashamed. I would never do that to a baby the image is weird to me but I don’t know it’s like I get this feeling that I may want to do it I know it’s just a thought but I feel like a weirdo
