Yep, that is the OCD cycle. You have an intrusive thought, you feel anxious, so in an attempt to relieve your anxiety, you do a compulsions, that leads to more intrusive thoughts, which leads to more anxiety which leads to more compulsions and it just goes around and around. But OCD Life is right. The best way to break the cycle is through ERP. It's not fun or easy, but it works.
