Hi I got my OCD 3 months back after watching a horror movie as I connected that movie with my past experience. Does any one enjoy horror movies who could help me to break my OCD by watching that movie. Kindly let me know
My anxiety fluctuates throughout the weeks and it gets me so confused! One day I have absolutely no anxiety but the intrusive thoughts still remain, but aren’t as intense. The next day, the anxiety rises again and I tend to do more physical compulsions since the intrusive thoughts are more intense. I have no idea if it’s an influence from my daily structure (more anxiety on the weekend?) or if its hormonal or something else. I really don’t get how ocd works sometimes
If I was 13 years old, and I made a severely horrible childhood POCD mistake that I was told about earlier in the day, but had forgotten about it because I had never heard of that mistake or done it before, should I be punished for it as a 23 year old?Does it make the intrusive thoughts true? I'm getting anxious from my POCD and real event OCD based on real events (3 times) from when I was 13…… I don't ever want to ever be a P at all… I don't ever want to ever be a Chomo at all... i don’t ever want to ever be a rapist at all… I was 13 when these real events happened and now I'm 22... I've asked my mom about this so many times and every time she tells me that it's not serious anymore, that she doesnt remember it, that the person is okay, and that I'm not a rapist or a P or a chomo... I was told what this word was, but I had forgotten it... I did not have full knowledge or full understanding on how horrible this mistake was... I was 13 at the time… now I’m 20… my POCD and real event OCD call me a P or a chomo because of the real events… while my mom reassures me all the time that it’s all over, that it’s not serious anymore, that the person is okay, and that I’m not a P or a rapist or a chomo, but when I was doing compulsive research, I remember when I saw a post on a non OCD forum about someone’s similar situation to mine and two people said to the person that they m*lested and that they needed to turn themselves in… I don’t ever want to ever be a P or a chomo in any way shape or form… i didn’t know how horrible the real events were when I was 13… I really didn’t… and after the real events I never did anything like that ever again, and I never once ever thought (before, and after) about doing stuff with kids in any way shape or form... I never once fantasized about kids or wanted to do anything with kids… I was 13 and didn’t realize how horrible the actions were at the time and I never did it ever again… I never once fantasized about kids before or after the real event… I don't ever want to ever harm a child in any way shape or form... I seriously don't ever want to do that to any child in any way shape or form and I seriously don't ever want to do anything like that to any kid now or in the future… I never have had any fantasies about kids and I don't ever want to... I don't ever want to ever be a P or a chomo in any way shape or form... I was 13….. and after the real events I never did anything like that ever again, and I never once ever thought (before, and after) about doing stuff with kids in any way shape or form... I never once fantasized about kids or wanted to do anything with kids… I was 13 and didn’t realize how horrible the actions were at the time and I never did it ever again… I never once fantasized about kids before or after the real event… And it’s comparing me to actual P’s and chomo’s who did stuff from 12-15… and making me think I’m a P and a Chomo because of it… I don’t ever want to ever be a P or a chomo in any way… 😭😭😭 and I get intrusive thoughts of people calling me a P and a chomo and me getting arrested… I don’t ever want to ever be a P or a chomo… the real events happened only 3 times and I really didn’t know how horrible it was… I don’t ever want to ever be a P or a chomo in any way… I don’t want to ever be attracted to or harm kids in any way… 😭😭😭 It’s making me feel like I know I’m a P or a chomo when I don't ever want to ever be those things… I perform avoidance compulsions all the time and I don’t want to be anywhere around kids… even accidentally standing next to one makes me feel incredibly uncomfortable and anxious… it’s making me feel like that I know I’m what my POCD and real events OCD are telling me even when a former ocd psychiatrist has told me that the real events don’t make me a P or a chomo… In addition it’s making me feel like I’m what my ocd tells me that I am… I didn’t know how horrible the real events were at the time when I was 13… I really didn’t… my POCD and real events OCD keeps calling me a P and a Chomo for what happened when I was 13 when I didn’t know what any of that stuff was… I truly didn’t know how horrible the real events were when I was 13… I really didn’t… It’s making me think I am a rapist because of the real events too… my POCD just keeps telling me that I’m a P or a chomo or in worst case a child r*pist when I don’t ever want to ever be those things in any way 😭😭😭
Hey! A little about myself my names Jacob, I’m 23 years old, I’ve been a firefighter since I was fresh out of high school and I’ve been dealing with OCD symptoms since around my Senior year of high school. When I was 17 I vividly remember being at home one day and all of a sudden having a full on anxiety attack with no trigger whatsoever. From then on it developed into me having no idea what was going on for weeks-months until I was able to do the right research and figured out I was dealing with OCD, more specifically Pure OCD. It mainly was made up of intrusive thoughts of harming myself or others, for example thinking of crashing my car into oncoming traffic or randomly attacking someone for no reason. It terrified me because the thoughts never reflected my character at all. In fact I’ve never even been in a car accident before thank god and I’ve never been in a fight! As I’ve gotten older and learned how to deal with OCD I was put on to a prescription called Fluvoxamine around the time I was 18-19 and noticed it helped significantly in reducing my intrusive thoughts and when I would have them there would be no anxiety or rumination following them. I’m now 23 and I work a steady job at my local fire station and I absolutely love it. OCD sometimes makes it challenging to go about my day especially when I have “flare ups” which don’t happen all that often but when they do it can be pretty overwhelming. I’m currently going through a flare up that is as challenging as all the other ones and it relates yet again to harm OCD. One thing I’ve been able to do very successfully is being able to recognize when it is a problem and I’m able to rely on my mom to sit and chat with me about what’s going on and help get everything off my chest. Flare ups usually only last a few weeks maybe a couple months usually, sometimes getting better and sometimes getting worse but I always remember im able to get through it and this too shall pass cause I’ve done it before and I will always continue to do it again. One thing I’ve been researching recently is Ketamine therapy for OCD/anxiety and was curious if anyone had any input on the idea of it. I’ve read some good things and some bad and would like to know too if anyone has tried it for themselves. Thank you if you took the time to read this😁
Hey, this is my first time posting… so I am a little nervous. I have OCD, along with Bipolar 1, and Autism (autism was assessed by a therapist and psychiatrist but not an official diagnosis cause of the cost). I used to have my OCD treated with Effexor until it revealed my Bipolar disorder and instead I can only be on low dose Prozac (alongside other meds for bipolar) One of my biggest and oldest OCD symptoms has been a constant need to confess everything hidden about my life to my parents. It started when I was 15. I suddenly would become so stressed about something I did in the past (usually regarding more private topics, stuff no one wants to talk to their parents about). It would be so bad I would struggle to keep food down if I was fighting those thoughts. Although it’s gotten better, it hasn’t left without leaving me completely exposed, and it still pushes me to want to confess my private life to them. I always think “but X or Y was wrong of me to do, or was private” and then I’d feel like NOT confessing was me “lying by omission.” It’s hard to explain it… but I just wondered if anyone had and advice or just messages of solidarity. Thanks to anyone who read this long message, I appreciate it.
I will cut right to it. I have severe anxiety over psychosis or mood related disorders due to misdiagnosis when I was a child and into my early 20s. Turns out repressed trauma and a very bad upbringing can cause some serious ptsd, ocd, and panic . Imagine that! Lol. In all seriousness my doctor prescribing me 25mg seroquel as needed is scaring me half to death since 20 years ago I was misdiagnosed as rapid cycling bipolar and put on all sorts of things that disoriented me. My diagnosis for last 8 years is the above diagnosis I just mentioned. I am highly functioning and have a family with a senior level corporate job which provides me reassurance. Im 36 and now and just want to get better and have faith in medical practitioners. Anyone else struggle with a similar story that causes them to be fearful of medication and or physicians ?
For a few weeks I was talking to a guy. I do have feelings for him but he was very upfront and talked about how much he liked me. It was clear he liked me more. He is also friends with a guy I dated for a month who turned out to be a well known weirdo at my school and people got insanely mad at me but I didn't know this and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but ended up unable to. Multiple times after a few months after I broke up with him I got some angry messages from people he knows. I wasn't expecting his friend to start liking me and he is nice but he is going very fast. He already started calling me "Baby" and "Pookie" and recently made a comment about how my bendy legs could come in handy sometime and how he wants to hang out soon. It was all a bit much for me but I've also been worrying about how my ex would respond and lately it's worse so last night I mentioned being a bit overwhelmed about how forward he was being and said I wanted to get to know him some more still. He understood and said it was his bad. It was fine but a few hours that morning I was stressed put of my mind and realized alot of the stress also came from the fear of having to deal with my ex boyfriend again. I couldn't stand that thought and I sent the guy this message "I'm extremely sorry but I think we would be better off as friends. I have been stressed out alot because you are or were friends with (insert ex Boyfriends name) and it just feels really awkward. There was a couple times when he got a new girlfriend where she messaged me and got angry with me out of nowhere, which she texted me again yesterday not to yell but for some random thing she wanted me to vote for but the notification alone made me anxious. Don't feel bad about what I said about being a little overwhelming and quick with it all because I should have said something before. It was mostly due to the fact I was already stressed out about this. Your really cool and its not that I don't have feelings for you, it's just that I don't think I could be any more then friends with you without feeling guilty because I doubt (insert ex Boyfriends name) would react well which could also get me yelled at by somebody again and it's also just kinda awkward and stressful that you two were or are friends. I just don't think I can deal with any correlation to him considering when I started dating him alot of people got extremely mad and yelled at me and then with the girl he dated after me losing it at me out of nowhere I just can't. I'm really sorry, and I hope you don't hate me for this." He said be understood and it was okay I didn't have to be sorry or anything. I didn't add this but I also just felt like I didn't have as much interest in him as I thought. There is another guy I kinda like and this guy was stressing me out, espically the fact with my ex, and I didnt wanna make him mad ether. I then cried cause I felt so guilty. My friend said I did the right thing and I'm not a horrible person and it's okay. Not only did my OCD make me feel like the most awful human alive for hurting his feelings, I also ended up worrying that now somehow because I did this "people will assume I'm gay or asexual" I'm not asexual or gay. I'm straight but support, however that what if made me feel homophobic and more guilty. My OCD loves to hit me when I'm down. Am I horrible person? Will people assume those things and am I homophobic for worrying about then?
I’m a female for context, been boy obsessed my whole life, crushes in school, making up scenarios in my head about them, butterflies etc. However I also discovered that I seem to get more sexually turned on by women? May I say I’ve never been romantically attracted to female ever, although the ocd can make me spiral and think I’m lying to myself, I know very well I’m only ever interested in boys. I disregarded it for a long time, If the thought ever came up that I could be a different sexuality I’d say so what, you stay with the uncertainty? Myself can get aroused by countless things, doesn’t mean I want to be with it or do that. My worry is the ocd comes and goes especially when I don’t have a burning crush (don’t atm) I’m a virgin and when the day comes to do it with a guy I’m inlove with what if don’t get as turned on as I do when I watch same sex stuff. It plays with my brain a lot and guess I’ll never know until I do but I wish to be married with a husband and kids and the Soocd really feeds of the fact I’m aroused over same sex but there is no DESIRE there, it just gets me and then when it’s over boys are in my head again. Does anyone know what this is? I accept myself but the back and forth questioning is draining. I also feel when I get a boyfriend they wouldn’t really care if this is the case
firstly im not privileged enough for a diagnosis but i am not the type to just label myself as such, when i had the symptomps i knew there was something wrong with me thats when i searched if such things are normal and it all lead to me having ocd, i wasnt really familiar with ocd back then so i didnt belive that i had it cause i thought its only about physical related obsessions (washing hands, repetitive behaviours etc.) i would get this thoughts that are unwanted and find myself hyperfixating on it and rationalizing my thoughts but in the end ill just keep doubting myself its so bad to the point that it would last months the first time it happend was last year i was in a relationship and experienced rocd where i doubted if i was really loyal to my partner id get this thoughts abt other guys and worry that im being unfaithful. i would research abt things to see if its normal and such and find reassurance that would only work temporarily and then doubt myself all over again. this is just an idea of what i was struggling with but it was more complex than this. that resulted with me breaking up with him. it stopped my ocd. but i got into a relationship again, i was pretty confident because i thought i knew better but guess what it happend again and i had to break up with him again because i was so scared of my own thoughts making me doubt myself. but now i have new obsessions and its pocd and i cant do anything about it to make it go away i honestly feel so disgusted everytime i have thoughts related to kids and i feel so guilty about it. i know deep down that i really have ocd since i relate to every videos about ocd since it EXACTLY explains my situation. like unwanted intrusive thoughts and obsessing about it, constant doubts, trying to fix or ruminate about the thought, having to do something that would make me feel at ease (compulsion) so please help me, i would really want to go to a therapist but i have to explain to my parents first but i feel like they wont bleieve that much and im also starting to doubt myself because of it.
I keep spiraling into these “what if” thoughts, particularly about things I might have done to family members in the past ( like what if i s@’d them), which I honestly don’t remember. Out of concern, I asked a friend to check in with my little brother about whether I'd ever made him uncomfortable (they asked him over text), but the response wasn’t what I hoped for (he told me my friend was asking some questions and how they thought i was a bad person). I also left my brother a note, but he never answered. I feel completely lost. I genuinely want to talk to a therapist about these feelings and the guilt that’s consuming me, but my parents are hesitant due to a previous therapy session where I shared too much about our family dynamics. Right now, I’m feeling isolated and worried about what I might have done in the past, and these thoughts are affecting my daily life and with school coming back i dont think i can honestly do it anymore. I’m even having some dark thoughts and contemplating overdosing. Idk how to cope or honestly if i want to if my “what if” thoughts are real i know noone would want me alive its honestly disgusting My parents told me they would’ve known if I did or my baby cousins parents but I can’t stop thinking like what if I just did it in secret and they didn’t know or what if I did it and I forgot and they forgot idk what to do I feel at a loss.
Months ago I was constantly worrying about cheating on my partner. We were in a long distance relationship, and I was a different school. I avoided many things such as making friends, speaking or even looking at attractive people. I told myself I would only keep the friends I already had, since I knew I had no feelings for them at all. I constantly alert, making sure I did not mess up. I reminded myself daily of the consequences of cheating. Hurting my partner, loosing my friends, breaking up, etc. During those months, I had many events where I convinced myself I had cheated. I would confess online and luckily everyone told me that I had nothing to worry about. I was doing alright for a couple of days. One day, about a month ago, however, I did something that I have not been able to get off my mind and it gets triggered when I see something about cheating on social media. I was responding to my best friend on instagram (she's also my girlfriend's best friend). I was responding to her reels. I had finished going through all of them. I suddenly thought about her being attractive, of how I wanted her. I sent another message, but it was associated with the reel. It wasn't suggestive, but I was trying to be flirty, to make a move on her. I sent it and exited the app. I was thinking of the picture where I thought she seemed pretty. I was going to go see it, but I stopped myself. I thought of how disrespectful it would be to my partner. But as soon as I stopped myself, I realized what I had just done, The message I had just sent. I panicked and tried to unsend it, but I didn't. It wouldn't undue what I did, I knew I did something wrong. When I tried to think back and remember why I did that or what I had thought, I couldn't. I wasn't sure I was remembering properly or I simply didn't want to because I was scared of the answer. I've always been cautious. Earlier that day I had an intrusive thought about cheating with this friend and I argued heavily against it with myself. I was also going to respond to people on this sub-reddit, but as soon as I started typing, I felt a weird sense of attraction and flirtatiousness and I didn't send a reply. I don't comprehend why I didn't recognize this and stop myself from sending that extra message to my friend. As for this friend, I love her, but not in that way. I've always felt jealous when she hung out with my girlfriend. I wished that were me instead. When I called my girlfriend and my friend was there, I wished she would fall asleep so I could have time alone with my partner. I am now back home, and I constantly find myself hoping my friend is busy so I can spend time with my girlfriend alone. This makes me feel guilty because I know I should spend time with my friend too. I have confessed to a therapist and they told me to not confess. But I just saw a TikTok saying that texting someone with flirtatious intent is cheating and how it is a dealbreaker and it triggered me. I feel like I should confess. This event keeps being in the back of my mind. But if I were to confess I feel like I would just sound stupid, because I don't remember the details and maybe they wouldn't believe me. But at the same time, I did something wrong and I technically cheated and I feel like a liar.
Hey everyone, I'm hoping to share my story in hopes of finding some understanding and maybe some advice. When I was around 8-10 years old, my older brother showed me something explicit that impacted me deeply. Fast forward to ages 13-14, and I started having some confusing feelings and impulses related to smelling and licking underwear belonging to my brother and dad. No matter how hard I’ve tried, I can't seem to shake off those thoughts or these behaviors. Things took a turn for the worse when I made a mistake involving some inappropriate photos from a friend. I sent pictures of my friend's behind because I was trying to impress someone and wanted photos from a 17-year-old I was interested in (i would also beg for photos from him). Unfortunately, He later told me that he had manipulated me the whole time, keeping me in a "loop of mystery." Honestly my overtly sexual behavior over text caused rifts in my friendships (even though I'm so shy in person), and while some people managed to forgive me, there’s still one friend who's upset and won’t let it go (rightfully so honestly) Since then, I’ve struggled to connect with people at school, as I’ve been overly flirtatious and it seems to have made others uncomfortable. The guilt from these moments is overwhelming, and I think it might have triggered something like obsessive-compulsive disorder (though I haven’t seen a doctor yet). How do you guys cope when your obsessions target people you’re close to? I recently had a sexual thought about a friend of mine and it started snowballing. We’ve been texting more and my brain keeps saying that it’s flirty, and if I were in a situation to kiss her I would. She’s a close friend of mine and I didn’t have sexual thoughts about her until recently. They make me feel disgusting and guilty, and the onset made me feel like my body was on fire. It’s starting to latch on to other friends, and my brain is saying I’m “tempted” by them, and if they came on to me I would give in and like it. I had SO-OCD as a child, and did engage in some play kissing with friends before my SO-OCD happened. (My OCD latches on to that a lot too as proof that I’m gay). I remember the anxiety I had about what I had done with my friend, and this feeling I have now imagining kissing my friends feel similarly. I don’t usually write on here to avoid confessing and reassurance seeking, but I’m at a loss. I have a heavy feeling in my chest and I don’t want to have the thoughts, but part of me thinks I might be liking them and maybe it’s internalized homophobia. I could handle being bi, but the thoughts about my friends and losing control feels so wrong. I’m just confused and want to know how to process when OCD starts attaching to people I’m close to.

hey guys. I’m on my break at work right now. long post. so basically what happened was that I ordered my food. a muffin sandwich I requested comes with egg whites but I received regular eggs. I was thinking to myself “maybe the egg white grill muffin doesn’t come with eggs whites” even though it’s in the name. so I got up and & looked at the menu. it comes with egg whites. I hesitated whether or not to mention this simple (and really not a big deal) mistake to the leader in charge. earlier today the leader was disciplining the kitchen for something that was going on with the food. I wasn’t too sure what it was about but just know that they were being disciplined. fast forward to now, I didn’t know if I should add more weight to the kitchen by telling the leader about the error on my order. I thought about how it could happen to an actual customer & ofc we don’t wanna deal with that bc the restaurant I work for is known to be the best fast service chain in my country. and ofc the company strives to be the best. so I was becoming anxious and eventually told her. she then asked for the muffin (which I was already eating & said it’s no big deal, to just tell them to keep a better eye on the food to prevent future mistakes) and took it inside the kitchen. I knew for a fact she was disciplining them again. I then started to get anxious again bc I didn’t wanna get the kitchen scolded for a simple mistake. I know that we have high standards because of our reputation but sometimes mistakes happen. I stood by the front counter playing with my hands to soothe the anxiousness. the leader came back out & I don’t know exactly what happened in the kitchen but I heard her say “so rude” & then handed me my muffin. I’m guessing a kitchen employee had a negative reaction or something and now I feel like it’s my fault. I feel like I’m causing a bad relationship between my coworkers. I don’t want people to argue. I didn’t mean to cause a bad environment in that moment. I feel like the kitchen probably hates me & is asking like “why can’t she just eat the egg? she has the same type of egg in her burrito.” ofc they didn’t say anything but this is what my mind is telling me. I had no problem eating the muffin with the wrong egg but just wanted to point it out. they remade my muffin (which I told the leader not to) and so now I have it next to me. not sure what to do with it. I might give it someone else because I’m already full. I know this specific leader in charge for today is known for being ‘strict’ I guess. I know her job (as any other leader) is to make sure things are going the way they should. other leaders seem to be a bit more laid back than her. some coworkers know that she’s the “one on your ass” if you make a mistake. this mostly goes for the kitchen. none of them said what I quoted ofc. I’m just putting an example that she seems very vigilant of things. and that’s just what leadership does, especially her position. maybe she might have OCD & dealing with a perfectionism theme. I don’t know. maybe not and she’s just making sure things run smoothly. same with the kitchen; maybe someone is having a bad day and made a simple mistake while thinking about something else. I don’t like to assume things right away. yes, sometimes it happens with me but I try to remember that I don’t know what a person is going through. this post pretty much took up my break lol. anyway, that’s what I wanted to say. thanks for reading if you did. in conclusion, I feel like the bad person here for pointing out a mistake. or that I’m the “snitch” or some shit. idk what to think ughhhh
Hey guys does anyone know how to not let moral scrupulosity control your life? Because when the compulsions are moral I feel like it’s harder to interpret whether indulging in them is a good or a bad thing. Even when I can tell it’s definitely OCD it’ll start making me think “wow you’re not even gonna give it a chance? It’s bad that you’re not thinking about it more this could be more serious than you think!” Any advice?
I keep rumminating about this, cause im in a depressive state right now which i accept, its actually not that bad as i imagined. The bad thing is fear and that im beating myself up, cause i dont know how should i react to my thoughts. I learned that you just dont give attention to ocd thoughts, and you try live your life but now im spinning out cause if i do that with these depressive thoughts i feel like im doing something bad. Like im supressing them. And this has became a big problem cause either with ocd sometimes i cant tell the difference between avoidance and just not feeding the thoughts and not giving attention to them... cause for me not givvi g attention is avoidance. When i avoid it its because i dont want to give attention to them. Its really tiring that for different problems you need different tools, like how i suppose to tell which kind of thought is this? Its depressive, but i get scared of it. Every depressive thought i get i get anxoius over it, but if i try to not give attention to it it grows bigger and i feel like i did something bad, i supressed it and i feel shame.
I am absolutely terrified of the dentist and any other type of doctor. I struggle with health themes and I often think my moles are cancerous, that I have mouth cancer, ovarian cancer, colon cancer etc. While I realize having all of these at once would be super rare, I’ve convinced myself that while I might not have all of those I probably have at least one but I don’t know which one. I worry about having cancer or some other terminal disease almost 24/7 it’s really impacting my life.. the issue is I can’t bring myself to go to any doctor’s appointments. I’ve been doing a little better by building a good relationship with my primary care physician & I’ve had every blood test available & all came back perfect. I got over my fear of the eye doctor and went and got a new prescription for the first time in 8 years & I went to an allergist for the first time. Since my biggest fears are ovarian, mouth and skin cancer I can’t seem to bring myself to go to the gynecologist, dermatologist or dentist. I know if I go I’ll feel better like I did with other appointments but I am SO convinced that I will be told I’m dying that I’m not ready to hear it and too scared to go. I fear I’m letting other health problems that I may have like gum disease get worse due to my fear of receiving bad news which only makes me more scared to go. Any advice or comments are appreciated!
does anyone else get urges to confess to a loved one when experiencing anxiety from an intrusive thought/image?i used to do this in the past but recently i have been trying to not do this, is this a compulsion?anyone else relate?
i have been doing clinical ketamine treatments for over a year and a half now and am curious anyone else’s experience. i have found that my depression and ocd can really feed off one another (obsessions triggering depressive episodes, depressive episodes being the perfect breeding ground for rumination, etc.). because of this, i believe treating my depression in turn supports my ocd treatment. does anyone else notice this relationship between co-occurring mood disorders? or has anyone had experience with ketamine? would love to hear from you guys ❤️
