Does anybody else get thoughts like “what if I died last night” or “what if I’m dead right now”? This is something that’s really scaring me and I don’t quite know what to do…
Do you guys get "familiar" feelings as if you can see an event playing out or have a feeling an event played out not exactly but something similar ? Like you feel like you were in that same place ? Like you've been in that situation ? And now you are trying to find the details of what exactly or if what you are thinking of is true ? I'm fucking spiraling right now so I would really love a reply from others who have felt the same.
When getting false memories, do the actions playing out in them feel too real ? Like you can see yourself doing the action, you know the action could be a "possibility" you have a familiar feeling something like that happened, and playing out the action feels real. You acting out something on someone. I really feel like I'm so alone in this....
So my husband and I have been married for almost 10 years now. We got married young and real quick about 9 months after dating. When we got married my husband used to be a very friendly flirty person but in a harmless way. He didn’t really think of the consequences of the things he’d say he would just blurt it out lol like no filter. Anyway, sometimes he would make compliments at my sister and for some reason that made me upset. She had a boyfriend at the time, anyway fast forward a few months and I guess my sisters boyfriend and my husband were having “guy talk” which I don’t quite understand that. But my sisters boyfriend made a comment about me having nice legs and my husband made a comment back about my sister having big boobs or a nice chest and he’s a lucky guy. Fast forward a couple months later to Halloween he texted her about her Halloween costume teasing her since the stockings she was wearing looked like tan likes but at the point I was so sensitive about the boob comment that the stocking comment alarmed me. I want to mention my husband has changed a ton, he’s no longer immature lol we are in our 30s now he’s reserved and talks about our future non stop and worries for me, all the things a woman wants in a husband. I’ve been good for 4.5 years never bringing this topic up but for some reason I’m stuck in a loop that he made those comments because he wanted my sister and not me and the anxiety that comes with it is unbearable. It’s like I feel this so deeply so it must me true? I can’t tell if it’s because I’m so stuck it feels real and that it is the case and he does like my sister or I’m in denial and want someone to tell me it’s not true. I just want it all to stop because we have such beautiful memories and now I’m focused on a moment of what was immaturity. If you took the time to read this I appreciate you. I’ve asked him a thousand times if he made those comments because he desired her and he said absolutely not, in fact they always bicker and he’s always picking on her calling her boring so she’s not really his type. My mother knows about this and she thinks it was a moment of immaturity and he’s a good man.l and never noticed him being interested in my sister. My sister who was on the receiving end of this says no that’s not the case he was just a dumb ass and my mother in law says I need to get over it. But here I am stuck and I can’t get unstuck. It’s all I can think about. Is what I feel real and Is it true or is this my OCD blowing up the situation more than it really is? Thanks for your time.
I really need some advice right now so please if your readying this just tell me how you feel or what you think could help. So I have many types of ocd and have been struggling for a year now but a couple months ago everything seemed to ease a little and I was happy with myself again but recently I fell into a spiral about my sexuality and then I figured that out too and thought okay good another issue gone but then all week I’ve been constantly having panic attacks and worrying all night about relationships. Now I don’t know if this is connected to ocd but I’m pretty sure it is but basically I constantly get scared and dread being in a relationship even though I want to at the same time? Thinking of being in a relationship with someone gives me terrible anxiety like I don’t even now how I’d function or how I would show affection. The thought of making out and having sex scares me but then when once a day il be in a good mood and change my mind and think no I want to it will be fun. And it’s a constant spiral and it’s making me want to never be in a relationship ever it’s just so scary to me. I’m 15 and have never been in a relationship but I’m too scared to even talk to boys. Can someone help I’ve told my parents I think I have ocd and they don’t believe me:(
Hello everybody, So, let's make this one quick, because I really need to go to bed 😅 According to you, are General anxiety désorder and OCD two aspects of the same thing ? I feel quite lost at the moment. I've just started to acknowledge that this anxiety of mine is not a "normal" thing. And while my favorite answer is "I don't know what I m worried about...", I've started to notice these insidious thoughts which are so mean to me. So, basically, can help be found in this place if we're not really sure what we're dealing with ? And does the name really matter? Many thanks.
Hey! So last night I started taking 25mg of Zoloft. And today I feel better! (Thank Heavens) SO FAR, there has been no side effects. Is that normal? Should I brace myself? Is the worst yet to come? Is it just a placebo effect? I’ve had this medicine sitting in my cabinet for a month because I have been scared to take it. Some of the rare side effects is almost too much for my anxiety to handle. The uncertainty of it all is scary. For those who have taken SSRIs/Zoloft before, what was the first 2 weeks like?
Seeking reassurance is a sneeky bitch. It tricks your brain into thinking that some reassurance is okay. That if you can just receive the answer you're looking for to the biggest/broadest trigger you have, then somehow you won't need reassurance for all the smaller daily, minute-by-minute, hour-by-hour intrusive thoughts that flood your brain. I'm not sure about you all, but I'm at that point in my relationship with OCD where every experience , every conversation, every decision, every step I take has me wrestling with "what ifs". I'm in constant fight or flight mode and I just want someone to wave a magic wand and tell me it's okay. That my fears are irrational and I actually control much less than I think I do. That I should just drink that contaminated cup of coffee, because life keeps moving anyway. Unfortunately, that's still reassurance seeking if it's one magic wand vs. a million tiny checks, questions, or other compulsions. How do we finally stop wanting reassurance and just move forward without feeling like our brain is going to explode and we're going to vomit everywhere. (Anyone else feel physically ill during an exposure?) I just started ERP therapy yesterday, but I have lived with OCD since I was a child. I remember feeling personally responsible for the Iraq War, Tornadoes occuring thousands of miles from me, and the survival of my parents, all as a 7 year old kid. My recovery has ebbed and flowed since that time and I've experience all different kinds of subtypes. I feel as though once I have a handle on one, a different form pops up, taunting me because I'm somehow unworthy of a day without intrusive thoughts. Sometimes I look at other people and try to imagine what it's like to live without OCD. Then, my dog licks my hand and my daydream is interrupted with a lengthy handwash. The days can be really hard, but I am so grateful for this community and my new therapist, Danielle. To anyone else that's tired, I hope you can do one thing today that is unexpected and makes you happy. I'm not sure yet what mine will be, but I'm going to do something, even if I'm tired.
I’m afraid I am going to lose my boyfriend because of my OCD. One of my compulsions is to confess and I shared an intrusive thought I had about my boyfriend with him. It wasn’t the first time I had shared the thought with him and it caused problems in the past. I was doing better this time at letting it go on my own this time, when I had a slip-up that sent me in a downward spiral and I ended up sharing the thought again. Right now he wants space from me to think. He’s told me he loves me, but is having trouble moving on from this because I have other triggers that he’s seen and it’s a lot for anyone to deal with (including me). He’s been such an amazing support system but I think I pushed it too far this time and I’m not sure how to fix it. I’ve obviously apologized a ton and asked him what he needs, but right now it’s just space. I was up all night having panic attacks about losing him. He’s the best person to come into my life and has shown endless patience with me, that I feel in many ways I haven’t deserved because of these thoughts. I can’t lose him. Losing him because of my OCD is my worst nightmare and makes me feel like if I share my full self with someone (including the really bad), I’m unlovable. Has anyone else had relationship issues like this? If so, how did you help your partner to understand/not be bothered by your intrusive thoughts? Any advice on how to get through this would be great.
I’m new here and wanted to say hello! I’m 33 and from the UK. I have had OCD for my adult life so far. But I’ve only learnt about what it is and how it affects me in the past 6 months. A relief to know it’s ‘a thing!’ I mainly struggle with Real Event OCD, which first presented itself when I was about 14 and had an overwhelming urge to confess something to my mum. Since then it’s cropped up every few years, always latching onto the relationships I value most, most recently my husband. I can go for weeks/months feeling normal (whatever that is!) and then it can come out of nowhere. When I’m deep in the OCD thoughts, I struggle to function and the urge to confess or seek reassurance is suffocating. Now I have a greater understanding of what’s happening in my brain, I’m trying to beat it for good. What keeps me going is knowing the darkness always passes, and there are happy times ahead. Wishing you all every success on your journey to finding some peace x
