I was doing laundry last night and this guy insisted on holding the door open for me, but I told him no, since due to my contamination fears, I handle my dirty laundry very carefully. I have my own method to get it to the laundry room. I let the door close again, so he would stop. I then unlocked the door again and pulled it open to hold it. Defeated I gave in, the basket touched him an he may have touched the basket with his hand, then touched the doorknob to the front of the building. Now I'm worried about other people touching the knob, then touching the knob to the other doors in the building and my keys getting contaminated in the process. Having the mailman touch the doorknob, then touch my mail and mailbox. Then in turn touching my keys and mail will contaminate my clean stuff an my new apartment. I seriously didn't want to get out of bed this morning. It's only another week or two until I finish moving (I get my new apartment Thursday, but need furniture etc.), but I'm not sure how to deal until then. 😫😫😫😫😫

Having a really tough today, my theme is starting to center around my old bestfriend as the most undeniable proof that I had a crush on a girl. My mind has gone from what if to you DID like her and here’s why. My mind has been finding a way to connect her to everything in my life and it feels like I truly did have a crush on her. This doesn’t feel like ocd anymore, I feel like if I choose to accept the uncertainty in this then I’m actually just further suppressing my denial because deep down I still don’t want to like girls. That could easily be internalized homophobia and it probably is but I’m just so tired of this battle. I’m tired of giving my life away to my thought, this doesn’t feel like me at all and yet it’s all I’ve been for the past 6 months so how could it be anything else but me. I don’t know how to fight anymore

I need exposure/analyzing advice. Typically i have pocd. Then recently an old obsession about the simulation popped in. NOW another one has taken place and its basically this feeling of hopelessness and dread revolving around my spirituality. The idea that everything is pointless and everything i believe in is probably bullshit.. Etc. How do i do an exposure to this particular piece? Is it "yes maybe everything is pointless and my beliefs are wrong"? I have been trying that, so far to no avail... I still feel myself analyzing and im not sure how/why my brain is doing it. Anyways, some advice would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Can ocd make you think it’s just a urge when it really isn’t? I’m not sure if what I had was just an intrusive thought or an urge but I’m so scared that it was an urge because then I would have to tell my mom

Has anyone still struggled with OCD after finishing erp through this app? I hate this. I just want to get better but the OCD voices are so loud and feel so real. Any help please!

Those who work: How has having or getting a job impacted your anxiety for the better or worse?

havent been on here for a while but i have been struggling a little bit lately. could people with Christian OCD share their stories? i think I need people to relate with right now.

Ever since yesterday afternoon I’m having such difficulty swallowing food. Every time I swallow, the food starts to go down but then stops and I have to just heave it up. I have to take super tiny bites of everything and chew it forever before I can even try to swallow it. It’s now given me a massive fear of choking. I don’t know if it’s psychosomatic or not. Has anyone else experienced this?

I don’t want to sleep because the moment I close my eyes thoughts come in and I snap my eyes back open, the thoughts are just too horrible

Tips for getting over OCD: 1. Move away from themes, treat the what ifs as all the same, do not get caught up in the content. 2. Let go of rumination and other compulsions, it is the doing that is keeping you stuck. Recovery is through non-doing, not responding and allowing your brain to see you're no longer afraid of thinking ANY thought. 3. Engage in life again, don't allow the scary fairy tale stories to be anything more than what they are (junk thoughts).

Can you get a disease from touching a clothing item that someone else wore. I work in the returns section of target sometimes and have been wondering.

How do you deal with obsessions when you know the thing you obsess about will happen and there’s nothing you can do about it? I try to be rational but it doesn’t work.

I don't know who I am anymore. My life feels ruined

I hate myself sometimes. My ocd is rooted in the fear of schizophrenia. I told my friend something in my mind is more afraid of schizophrenia than bipolar disorder and she said I was gaslighting her. ( she has bipolar disorder and is a sociopath) she has also manipulated me in the past. I apologized but told her that she did not need to go off on me during my panic attack. My guy friend sides with her and idk I’m kinda losing it. I apologized there’s nothing more I can do

Being around my niece and her friend is really freaking me out right now I don’t know what to do. I keep getting false feelings like groinal response and intrusive thoughts. I thought I was at a point where it wouldn’t bother me and it really is. I feel so disgusted

i haven’t noticed how horrible my ocd is until i sent something to my friends about the new conjuring and how if u watch it u can attract demons and they were just like “haha that’s silly” or making fun of it, but i was convinced it’s true and i bought sage and kept praying because i was convinced something bad attached to me. i know it’s just a movie and it’s ridiculous to have these worries over a block buster movie like it’s actually insane i am even worrying about it, but ocd literally convinced me if i don’t pray and use sage then someone will die around me or i’ll do something bad. 😭this was really a reflection moment for me where i was shocked at how bad my themes have gotten. i literally spent most of my day like in my own head thinking bc i have POCD and HOCD and s*icidal ocd and in*est ocd that i am possessed. ☹️it’s like my cod’s way to prove i don’t have ocd and that it’s my own spirit and soul that’s evil... this was probably a lot to read, but i just wanted to share how crazy ocd can get and how if anyone is struggling, i am with you and you’re not alone.

How do yall make new friends?

how do i deal with this: my friend is talking to me about boys and a hot guy she met at the store today and while she was talking to me i was getting thoughts like "she's normal... she likes grown, attractive guys when i like little boys". this happens often and it feels so real. sometimes it feels like im actively thinking it but the thought sounds more like "she's happily infatuated with men meanwhile i'm stuck with pocd". in other situations when im talking to someone about romance and that sorts of stuff enthusiastically i get racing thoughts that portray me as a deviant. they're in first person too which is scary. i just despise this so much because although these thoughts distress me they come in so naturally it's like i don't even notice them sometimes. i don't know what im supposed to do :\
