For a brief moment I had relief from my health anxiety but now I am freaking out about breast cancer because it’s more common than I thought
I’m interested in hearing people’s stories who have went through cbt and are on meds. I have a appointment on Wednesday to possibly start an SSRI for the first time, I have recovered and reduced my symptoms by about 70% since starting cbt therapy and I’m thinking meds will help level out my brain chemistry to get to that full 100% reduction of symptoms. My therapist says it is a good idea and says that he recommends meds + therapy for the best possible results. Any stories/thoughts?
Looked up articles about “how to if you’re gay” online as reassurance and now I’m convinced that I am. My poor S.O...I wish I just knew and didn’t have doubts
Hey guys, ik I’ve posted quite a bit but I need to ask something. Suddenly today, I’ve started having uncontrollable movements and jerks and idk what it is. It could be Tourette’s but idk if it’s my mind playing tricks on me and I haven’t really had anything like this before so I’m not sure what to do. It’s only been today but I’m getting rlly scared. If anyone knows anything plz help
Today I turned 20 and had a great day and night with my friends and family. My mom was very kind, yet when I get home from hanging with my boyfriend, she’s drunk. Intrusions come about blaming myself, I know it’s not fault, but I feel the urge to fix very broke people. I did it with many friends and my mom, but those are just compulsions. Besides that though, my birthday was one of the best and I’m so grateful to live in an amazing state
Does anyone else experience really BAD food aversion with OCD? I don’t know why but I just can’t eat certain foods, with no reason
TW POCD Does anyone else have intrusive thoughts about watching CP? There was a Black Mirror episode about it, and ever since I watched a year ago it’s been non stop. I’m currently doing ERP with a specialist and I’m hoping it will help in the long run. Tonight, I got the feeling that my mind was telling me “go, do it!!” It felt so real. Anyone else hear a tiny voice like that? Provides for some serious doubts about who I am. Anyway, hope everyone is doing well, this stuff is a struggle to say the least
(quick disclaimer that this is very hard for me to talk about and I’m thankful for any input you ladies could offer.) I’m a first time mom and loving it. However, I noticed my OCD spiking near the end of my pregnancy and it has only intensified since then. It manifests itself in sooo many different ways, at this point it’s getting impossible to manage. I bounced between therapist as a teenager but once I was living alone with my fiancé, I immediately developed a habit of “blacking/blanking out” at the time of my therapy sessions. I tried to reschedule but the same thing would always happen somehow. No pretty way to say it, we’re poor. Lower middle class.. if even. And as I was getting the courage to inquire about a state healthcare-covered therapist, I got a letter saying I was no longer eligible for insurance. I don’t know what to do. My OCD is truly putting my relationship to the test. My fiancé really has no clue how my mind works anymore, he can’t understand my logic (or lack of) and gets frustrated quickly. I’m scared it’ll eventually affect my daughter. Going to my family for help would be a mistake (been there, deeply regret that) and I’m against prescription drugs for many reasons. Does anybody else have OCD? How do you keep it from controlling your life?
Hey guys. My therapist really wants me to take a term off from college and go to an axiety clinic for my ocd. I would have to move back with my parents which isn’t perfect but could also be nice. I’m very skeptical of this because I’m on meds for ocd and my thoughts are slowly getting easy to manage and the good thing about being in college is that it can distract me but other times it’s too stressful. I know I should listen to my therapist but I’m just scared that moving home away from my friends will make my mental health worse. Anybody else been in a situation like this? Or has done a treatment program?
Does anyone have the same thought/image for hours on end?
TW POCD Babysitting those kids that aren’t mine again. This time for an entire week. Mine is here too but I’m used to him. at home he has his own room and that helps me at night when the thoughts come because he’s in his room and I’m in mine and I can forget about it. He’s eight. In this house, the little one is six and the older one is fourteen. The little one knows how to dress himself but he can’t take a bath on his own because he doesn’t know how to wash his hair. I was almost tempted to have him wear some swim shorts in the tub but that would’ve been ridiculous. I closed my eyes and focused on washing his hair. He doesn’t like to sleep alone. This is a problem because I don’t want to sleep in the bed with him. I don’t even like to sleep in the same bed as my own kid. I know I won’t sleep because I’ll be busy with compulsions. The first night I slept with my back to the kid and my hands on a fist, while my kid slept in pull out bed. The second night I made them sleep in the bed together while I took the pull out bed. We are on night number three and the little ones fell asleep on different beds. I opted for the pull out bed my own kid fell asleep on. I have three more nights to go after this. The older one will not stop making “that’s what she said” jokes and I’m the only she in the house. This is mentally exhausting.
OCD is ruining my life. I thought I had my recovery down & have done so well for almost 7 months. Then this week I had an intrusive thought I couldn’t get rid of - my brain convincing me that I’m in love with somebody else when I am absolutely not. I adore my boyfriend and I’m currently away traveling with him. He struggles to understand my thoughts and struggles with his reaction to it and overthinks my thoughts that I didn’t even want to have. :( please if anyone has any advice, I’m desperate as I can’t lose the love of my life over OCD.
Hard day and using avoidance. I struggle with harm OCD and feel like I go backwards when I avoid situations as I have today.
Our 13 yo daughter has OCD. Has this app been helpful to you?
How do you do exposures when doing them creates more compulsions and more anxiety?
Need some advice here as I feel like such a sick twisted person..I feel like I may have sexual intrusive thoughts ocd but sometimes I think it’s just me and my twisted brain- intrusive thoughts about my family members has turned into pedophilia ocd and what makes it worse is that I work with children. Lately I’ve been seeing sexual intrusive images of me sexually abusing young children normally male, and I am obviously distressed by them and I would never act on that but it makes me feel like I would actually do that cause of the feeling I would get and it’s all so confusing and scary cause I would never do that to a child. Please someone help that has maybe been through a similar experience?
Does anyone else see a spike in their OCD and anxiety when stressed out or worried? When work picks up and I have more responsibility, I notice a heightened sense of anxiety and OCD themes pick up. HOCD has always been a battle this year, but it’s been much less as magnified when I’m not stressed. How do others not allow their work to cause so much stress? How do you deal with trying to be perfect or fear you’re a failure?
I’m struggling from so many things at the moment and it’s really fucking scary and isolating. I’m currently dealing with forms of Contamination ocd, Hocd, Just Right ocd Health concern ocd Sexual intrusive thoughts Depersonalisation/derealisation and of course anxiety and depression because of it all. It has I can’t lie made me feel suicidal and I’ve noticed myself not being scared or disturbed by suicide because I’ve thought about it so much. It’s almost become an option in the back of my mind. I currently want to live my life as I know (I’m 19) I have so much more to experience but I feel I can only do that if all this ocd goes away.
